What is PCOS and How can Laser Help me?

Those without PCOS don’t understand the toll increased hair growth, ingrown hairs or acne in visible areas like the chin, back and chest can take on your self esteem.

Daily hair removal can leave your skin with rough, discolored, with razor burns and a compromised skin barrier.

Not to mention all the time and money you spend on temporary solutions.

What is PCOS?

PCOS stands for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, a hormonal disorder that affects women of reproductive age. It can lead to irregular periods, cysts on the ovaries, and hormonal imbalances, potentially causing fertility issues.

PCOS is a complex and multifaceted condition, the direct cause is not fully understood. But it is understood to be a combination of genetic, environmental and hormonal issues

What is Hirsutism?

Hirsutism, on the other hand, is a condition characterized by excessive hair growth in women in areas where hair is typically more typical in men, such as the face, chest, and back. Hirsutism is often associated with hormonal imbalances, including high levels of androgens, which are male sex hormones. PCOS can be one of the underlying causes of hirsutism

Common Symptoms of PCOS…

  1. Irregular menstrual periods: Infrequent or unpredictable menstrual cycles.

  2. Excessive hair growth (hirsutism): Unwanted hair growth on the face, chest, back, or other areas due to hormonal imbalances.

  3. Acne: Hormonal fluctuations can cause increase in oil production, skin texture changes and acne.

  4. Weight gain or difficulty losing weight

  5. Thinning hair or hair loss on the head: Thinning hair or male-pattern hair loss.

  6. Polycystic Ovaries: enlarged ovaries where the eggs become surrounded in fluid-filled sacs.

  7. Fertility issues: irregular ovulation or hormone imbalances.

It’s important to remember, people with PCOS may show any combination of the above, or no symptoms at all, meaning you could have PCOS and be completely unaware.

How can Laser help me with my PCOS?

Laser is a brilliant way to manage the symptoms of PCOS due to the increased hormone levels we recommend a minimum of 8 Sessions.

Some of the ways it can help:

1. Targeted hair reduction

Laser hair removal uses concentrated beams of light to target and damage hair follicles. This process leads to a reduction in hair growth in the treated areas.

2. Long-term results

While laser hair removal does not permanently eliminate hair, our Laser can deliver a reduction of up to 90% of new hair growth and much finer regrowth of body and facial hair long term.

3. Precision

Our Laser hair removal can selectively target dark and coarse hairs without causing damage to the surrounding skin. Our dual ND:YAG and Alexandrite works with an extra cooling tip, it is tested safe and comfortable for all skin tones.

4. Rebuild your Confidence

Excessive or thick hair growth can make you self conscious, Laser frees you from worrying about your hair growth on a day to day basis

5. Less maintenance

Our premium laser gives quick and effective sessions, so your long term maintenance is much less hassle than regular waxing or the abrasion caused by shaving.
