How Cryotherapy Works
During a cryotherapy treatment, the CryoPen emits a fine jet of liquid nitrogen or nitrous oxide directly onto the lesion. This reduces the temperature of the tissue to as low as -89°C, causing ice crystals to form inside the skin cells. As the cells freeze, they are destroyed, and the body naturally heals the treated area.
Depending on the skin condition, the freezing cycle may last between 5 and 30 seconds. For deeper skin lesions, multiple freeze-thaw cycles may be needed. Following cryotherapy, a small blister or scab may form, which typically heals within days as the skin regenerates.
